Australia road trip

There aren't many countries better for motorhome journeys than Australia. From long stretches of stunning red desert, to lush rainforests, to the beaches of your wildest dreams you'll never be bored and as the saying goes,  'it's all about the journey, not just the destination' in this beautiful part of the world.

Here are some great three day ideas for motorhome journeys. There's so much to see out the window of a home on wheels.

Cairns to Townsville to Airlie Beach

An aerial view of a harbour.

This drive has it all - the famous Great Barrier Reef, rainforest clad mountains, beautiful coastal views, opportunities for snorkeling and diving, Hinchinbrook Island and its hikes, and the swimming holes and waterfalls of Wooroonooran National Park. It works in three days but don't blame us if you want to stay much much longer. Make sure to pack a bathing suit, towels and a free spirit.

Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Sculpture of the word Brisbane.

While it's actually only a two hour drive from Brisbane to Noosa, there are plenty of great stops that can turn it into a multi day adventure. Pick up your campervan from Brisbane and explore Mount Ngungun summit or Glass House Mountains. Drive on and explore the art galleries and boutique shops of Montville, head to Kondalilla National Park where you'll find a spectacular waterfall and rock pools in the forest. Spend the night in Conondale National Park then head on to Mooloolaba where you can while away hours with great food, wine and views. Stay the night, then move on to Buderim Falls before your final destination of Noosa, where it's definitely worth spending a couple of days soaking up the easy beachside vibe.

Sydney to Eden

Rocky coastline.

With a couple of hours driving per day you can easily cover Sydney to Eden in three days. This is a really chilled coastal life itinerary where you can drink great wine, eat delicious seafood (Bateman's Bay oysters are a must-eat), swim, see whales, relax on truly stunning beaches, visit small towns and - most importantly - see why they call it the Sapphire Coast. There really is no better descriptor for the magical colour of that water and you'll need to build in a bit of extra time for all the photo stops you're going to want to take along the way.

Hopefully this gives you some inspiration to book your three day road trip. Campervan journeys don't always have to be long affairs and there's so much you can do in a short time in our spectacular country.
