Luxury breaks

Hiring a motorhome is a great way to take a luxury break. Rent one with top of the line features and enjoy a holiday based around freedom and privacy. No check in and check out times, no making small talk with other guests in hotels. Just time to relax and connect with your travelling partner and go where the wind takes you. Northland and Taupo are two perfect places for a luxury getaway in a Motorhome. Here are some suggestions for what to do in these regions.

Bay of Islands

The winterless north is the ideal place to escape to. All those kilometres of smooth sand, minus the summertime crowds makes it perfect for a relaxing motorhome holiday. You’ve possibly taken the boat from Pahia through the hole in the rock, but have you seen it from the air? You can - by helicopter, for a unique view of aquamarine waters and white sand beaches. If you’re a golfer you have to play Kauri Cliffs and see why people love this course, but if you'd rather relax, check out the treatments at La Spa Naturale at Pahia Beach Resort and Spa. Visit Paroa Bay Winery or Omata Estate for some excellent wine exploration with killer views and if you're interested in New Zealand’s history, Russell was the stage for much drama in the 1880s (you can still see the bullet holes in the church in the township). If you’re not freedom camping there’s a caravan park near beautiful Haruru Falls, which are definitely worth a look. The Bay of Islands is wonderful for a luxury break and with so many stunning beaches to explore, relaxation will be inevitable.

The middle part of the north island, Taupo, is famous for its fishing spots and geothermal sights.

Taupo

The middle part of the north island is excellent for luxury relaxation and Lake Taupo provides a stunning backdrop for a mini break in a campervan- this area is especially good for those who love fishing. Well known Huka Lodge is a magnificent setting for lunch before or after hitting the golf course at Wairakei or Kinloch. Book a massage at Wairakei Terraces and follow it up with a soak in their healing waters and if you’ve never seen this part of the country from above, consider a helicopter charter plane to do a flight over Huka Falls, Tongariro National Park and the beautiful geothermal sights this area is known for. If you’re looking for great sharing plates with lovely wines, definitely check out Vine one night for dinner. You’ll return home relaxed and refreshed after a motorhome break near New Zealand’s largest lake.
