The Ara Rentals New Zealand campervan fleet

There are two campervans in the Ara Rentals fleet, both of which can help you explore all over New Zealand.

• Ara 2: The Ara 2 is a super-compact motorhome with either two single beds or a double (you choose), and is entirely self-contained with an onboard shower and toilet. It includes air conditioning for summer and a gas heater for winter, as well as a gas hob and microwave for basic meals on the road. Note that this model has a manual transmission. The Ara 2 measures 5.5 metres total, so it fits into all motorhome sites at campgrounds around New Zealand.

• Ara 3: The Ara 3 is designed for two adults and one child so that small families can take to the road. This camper is fitted with a gas stove and fridge, but it is not completely self-contained as there is no shower or toilet. The bed in the back converts into a seating and dining area during the day for lunch stops and card games. The Ara 3 measures 4.34 metres total, so this compact size can fit in any campervan spot at the campground with room to spare.

Depot locations of Ara Rentals around New Zealand

The two Ara Rentals depot locations are found in New Zealand’s two largest cities, making it easy to explore either island, or to organise a one-way adventure throughout the entire country. Note that both of these depots are located close to the airports.

• Auckland: Whether you’re looking for a North Island round trip from Auckland or a massive New Zealand-wide road trip adventure, Auckland can be a great place to get started. It’s the country’s largest city, and offers top attractions both to the north and south.

• Christchurch: Christchurch is the biggest city in the South Island, and thanks to its location right in the middle, you can drive anywhere in a day. For the wineries, beaches, and walking trails of Marlborough, spend five to six hours driving the scenic route north. For the wineries, mountain ranges, and adventure attractions of Otago, spend five to six hours driving the scenic route south.
