Cheap Motorhome Rental

Cheap motorhome rental

Finding a good quality, cheap motorhome rental can be challenging, especially if you’re not quite sure where to look. Many prospective RV holidaymakers simply head to the websites of different rental suppliers to manually compare the different deals on offer from each one. Finding a quality cheap motorhome rental doesn’t have to be a chore, but it certainly does help to understand a few of the factors behind rental prices, so you can be savvy when it comes to hunting down the best deal possible.

Seasons

You can strike out on an RV adventure at any time of the year, but that doesn’t mean the seasons won’t have an impact on your travel plans. As any experienced motorhome adventurer knows well, summer is a golden time for RV road trips. The days are long, the skies are clear and the warm weather means you don’t have to worry about packing too many clothes. This means of course that holidaymakers will be hitting the roads in force - and as a result, the supply of available RV rentals will inevitably shrink. There are two ways around this: one is to book your summer vacation early (and when we say early, we mean up to 6 months or more in advance) while the other is to opt for a different time of the year. While many view summer as the ideal vacation season, every season has its charms for the avid traveler and a motorhome allows you to appreciate all of them. As long as you’ve done your research ahead of time, there’s no reason that an off peak holiday can’t be just as perfect as a midsummer vacation.

Destinations

Another good way to get hold of a cheap motorhome rental is to allow for a little flexibility in where exactly your journey will take you. Sometimes you have a set destination in mind and there’s nothing that will sway you from your course - and that’s fine. However, if you’re open to a small measure of spontaneity, there’s a chance for you to make some substantial savings on your RV rental. For a start, it should be noted that if you’re not taking a round trip journey then a one-way fee will usually apply. This covers the time and expenses involved getting the motorhome back to its original location after you’re finished with it. There are exceptions however, and these exceptions are the ones you want to watch out for. Keep your eyes peeled for the words ‘Vehicle Relocation Special’ and you might just find yourself an ultra cheap motorhome rental deal with no one-way fee. These Relocation specials will have a specific pick up point, and a limited range of drop off locations, but that’s why the deals are so good. Even if you’re planning a return trip, it still pays to check for specials, as different suppliers often provide location specific deals (valid for a limited timeframe) which can be an excellent option if you can find one that works in with your travel plans - or you’re willing and able to work in with the specials.

Timing

I referred to this briefly in the Seasons section, but the time at which you make your booking can make a substantial difference to whether or not you manage to snag a cheap motorhome rental. When it comes to certain things, it’s smart to hold off on booking until right before you absolutely have to, so you can take advantage of last minute deals. But when it comes to RV rentals, the opposite is almost always true. The earlier you’re able to book, the more likely it is that you’ll be able find both the cheapest deals, and specifically the best deals on the models that suit you. As time goes on your options will continue to narrow, so if you’re organised enough to book your RV rental well ahead of time, it will certainly give you an edge.

Armed with this knowledge, you’ll be ahead of the crowd when it comes to finding a cheap motorhome rental for your next epic road trip. Popular pick up locations include Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver and New York.

It’s funny how motorhome memories stick with you. I can still recall a motorhome vacation my family took when I was five years old and how awesome I thought I was, tucked away in a loft bed above the cab.
