Travel New Zealand in a motorhome

It’s finally here! We can now travel to New Zealand under the Trans Tasman bubble agreement and visit all those places - and people - we’ve been missing for over a year. Australia is truly gorgeous and it’s been fun exploring our own backyard, but there’s nothing like a bit of Wellington's culture, Auckland’s dining scene, Christchurch’s English charm and those beautiful Queenstown views for something different.

And there’s actually no better way to see New Zealand than in a motorhome. The joy of New Zealand is the journey and it’s a magical experience seeing those rolling hills, majestic rivers, stunning peaks, tumbling waterfalls and beautiful beaches from the window of your house on wheels.

If you actually need a reason to book those flights and a camper pronto (and you shouldn’t really) here they are:

Something for everyone

There are hundreds of different, diverse types of holiday you can take in a campervan in New Zealand. Pretend you’re Frodo in that dramatic South Island terrain, explore the geothermal wonder that is Rotorua, head for the powder on those slopes in Queenstown. There’s a holiday for every personality type and current mood.

Low Stress

Travelling in a motorhome is stress-free if you’re nervous about your first trip out of Australia for a while. No moving from accommodation to accommodation or worrying about levels of contact with others. It’s kind of your own bubble inside the bigger trans-Tasman bubble

Beachside bliss

New Zealand has some stunning beaches - from vast white sands to the ruggedly beautiful west coast wonders. And there are so many campgrounds right by the water’s edge! Even as the temperatures drop it’s magical to wake up and go for a sunrise stroll, build sandcastles with the kids, enjoy ‘fush and chups’ and live your best Kiwi beach life.

The little things

Being in a motorhome gives you the opportunity to road trip at your own pace and stop as you fancy - that coffee shop with the great scones, that tiny winery with the killer pinot noir, the little settler museum or the lookout over that lush New Zealand bush. Flying from city to city can mean you miss a bit of the everyday joy you see from a campervan. And New Zealand has so much of that to offer.

So what are you waiting for? We’ve had a great time exploring our own country, now it’s time to venture slightly further afield - and there’s no easier way to do it than in a motorhome with some of your favourite people.
