7 of Canada’s Top Wellness Destinations

Need a break to restore your mind and body? Try these rejuvenating destinations.

When most people think of the term “Wellness” they tend to picture yoga retreats and day spas, but these aren’t the only ways to regain a sense of holistic wellbeing. The ways we centre and restore ourselves vary hugely from person to person, but aiming to gain a sense of serenity and balance is fairly universal. One of the world’s best travel destinations for those seeking a sense of wellness is Canada, an immense country with almost unlimited potential for relaxation and rejuvenation. To find the perfect places to enhance your own feeling of wellness in this vast but welcoming nation, we’d recommend passing up the lodges and luxury cabins and instead opting for the freedom of an RV. When your accommodation is on wheels, it’s easy to seek out just the right kind of destination to soothe your soul. If you’re a little unsure where to start your Canada RV rental trip, we have a handful of suggestions to kickstart your quest for greater wellbeing.

Banff Upper Hot Springs

Regardless of whether you visit the hot springs, a visit to Banff National Park is an absolute must.

Hot springs have long been sought out for both their relaxation and healing properties, and while it’s not always easy to prove direct health benefits, there’s no doubt that slipping into a warming natural springwater soothes the soul. Banff Upper Hot Springs is one of Canada’s favourite hot spring spots - not only because of the springs themselves but also due to their location. Banff National Park ranks high amongst the most spectacular wilderness areas on Earth.

Waters Edge Campground

Sometimes in order to rediscover and sense of balance and wellbeing, we need to escape from the crowds and the trappings of modern life. Waters Edge Campground is not one of those campgrounds you can take a quick day trip to, but the trade-off is that when you get there you’ll be surrounded by pristine wilderness. This doesn’t mean Waters Edge is entirely without amenities (you’ll find picnic tables, firepits and even WiFi) but if you’re seeking serenity, you can certainly find it here.

Scandinave Spa, Mont-Tremblant

Indulge in some luxurious spa treatments at Scandinave before exploring the wilderness of Parc national du Mont-Tremblant.

There are two main reasons this place made the list. First, Scandinave provides one of the finest day spa experiences in Canada, with luxurious relaxation treatments grounded in time honoured Scandinavian traditions. The second reason has less to do the spa itself and more to do with where it’s set. Parc national du Mont-Tremblant is practically next door, an immense wilderness home to a vast array of creatures and countless stunning sights - plus, there are plenty of places in the park to camp with your Canada RV rental!

Radium Hot Springs

Banff isn’t the only place in Canada to offer soothing hot springs. Radium Springs in Kootenay National Park has been a popular destination for world weary travellers since the early 20th century. Soak your worries away in one of three pools, before venturing into the mountainous wild places of Kootenay. Between the relaxation of the springs and the reinvigorating vistas of the national park they lie within, you’ll come back feeling like a whole new person.

Gaspé Peninsula

Gaspé Peninsula is best visited in the shoulder season to avoid crowds, but it’s lovely at any time of the year.

Also known as La Gaspésie, this sparsely populated wedge of land between the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the St. Lawrence estuary is one of the prettiest spots in Quebec. Road tripping through quaint fishing villages and past picturesque lighthouses provides the perfect space for regaining a sense of peace and wellness. Summer sees crowds of tourists heading to Gaspé Peninsula, so consider visiting during the shoulder seasons for a more serene experience.

Brown’s Bay Resort, Campbell River

A little luxury never hurt anyone, and when you combine this with a gorgeous natural setting, you’ve got amazing potential for a truly rejuvenating holiday. Brown’s Bay Resort offers both oceanview and oceanfront RV campsites on the east coast of Vancouver Island. Complementing the stunning location is generous array of facilities, including a marina and a floating restaurant. There’s no need to rough it when you can drive your Vancouver RV rental up to this breathtaking resort.

Spray Lakes West Campground

Though you can easily get to Spray Lakes West Campground in very little time from Calgary, you’ll still feel like you’re deep in the wilderness.

If your way of regaining a sense of wellness includes escaping the rush of the world and reconnecting with raw nature, a stay at Spray Lakes West Campground may be in order. Surprisingly this spot is less than two hours west of Calgary, but you’ll feel much further away from urban life when you’re camping on the banks of Spray Lakes Reservoir. Park up your Calgary RV rental and head out hiking, fishing, wildlife spotting or boating to really immerse yourself in the local beauty.

No matter how you choose to seek wellness, booking a Canada RV rental gives you the freedom to discover it on your own terms, in a country that has almost unlimited potential for healing and refreshing both body and mind.
